Fortnite launched in 2017, and it’s still going strong nearly a decade later, thanks to a never-ending stream of fresh collaborations with gaming, TV, film and music icons.
In its upcoming Chapter 7 Season 4, the infamous battle royale will celebrate ‘gaming legends’, and the leaks we’ve seen reveal players are in for a stacked line-up.
One of the most exciting additions to the game’s ever-expanding roster, however, is characters from quite literally the greatest RPG ever made; Persona 5 Royal.
SamLeakss, via XCancel, reported that one of the next big collaborations for another Epic Games title, Rocket League, will be based on Persona 5. They also claim to have heard the Phantom Thieves from said game will finally be dropping out of the Battle Bus, after years of waiting.

A Persona collab has been teased for ages, and every time a new season was even remotely Japanese-themed, players were adamant that this was finally Persona’s time to shine.
Unfortunately, it just wasn’t meant to be, but it seems Joker, Ryuji, Ann, and the rest of the gang will finally be added to the game.
The timing couldn’t be better, too, especially not too long after the official reveal teaser for Persona 6.
At the time of writing, it’s anyone’s guess how many skins will be available, and which characters will be featured. As a Persona fan myself, I’d say Joker and Ann are safe bets for guaranteed skins, with Morgana as a Back Bling/Glider. Some may argue Ann’s outfit from Persona 5 is a bit too raunchy for a game with such a varied age demographic, but we’re not so sure anymore…

Sometimes, Fortnite will revisit collaborations at a later date and add skins for characters who didn’t make the cut the first time round.
Other characters and franchises rumoured to be featured in the next season are Sonic the Hedgehog, Crash Bandicoot, Mega-Man, to name a few.
Excitingly, these are names we never expected to be featured in Fortnite, so the next season is already shaping up to be one of the game’s best.
The ‘gaming legends’ season is set to drop in late August, so you’ve still got time to complete the Battle Pass if you haven’t already.
Fortnite is known to end its current season with some sort of live event, though Epic Games hasn’t revealed whether that will be the case this time or not.
The developer usually starts dropping clues around the island as to what its next move will be, but at the time of writing, it’s currently teasing its upcoming collaboration with Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Once that’s out of the way, we’ll likely start seeing some hints that confirm future collabs/upcoming events.
The confirmed release date for Chapter 7 Season 4 is August 20, so we’ve still got quite a few weeks to wait until the latest wave of gaming legends arrives.
