It's been a long time coming, but Persona 6 is finally real.
Xbox's annual Xbox Showcase is currently underway and it's been a great event so far, with Microsoft dropping updated looks at Gears of War: E-Day, Fable, and State of Decay 3, with Spyro: A Realm Beyond and Senua among the new games announced.
Another new game that's now been revealed is Persona 6 with Atlus dropping a very, very mysterious trailer.
It didn't feature very much at all beyond the game's title and a few distorted visuals. The end screen did confirm that Persona 6 is coming to Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
Persona fans were most definitely hoping for a Persona 6 announcement although they wouldn't have walked away empty handed had it not arrived.

Atlus stopped by earlier in the show to drop an updated look at Persona 4 Revival, with a 18 February 2027 release date now locked in. It was also confirmed that the game is coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one.
As for Persona 6, Atlus is yet to surface with any help on deciphering that trailer. We do have the trailer description courtesy of YouTube.
"The highly anticipated next chapter of the iconic RPG series delivers a bold, new standalone story blending heartfelt daily life and new characters with pulse-pounding, supernatural adventure," it reads.
"Whether it’s your first Persona game or you’ve been here since the beginning, this one’s for you.” As you can see, that doesn't give us much to go on either. Persona 6 is determined to stay shrouded in mystery for now.
Fans are yet to weigh in with their theories, but we are seeing plenty of reactions surface online.
"It's the most beautiful day of the year," declared one trailer viewer, while another added, "That's not the direction I was expecting but I'm intrigued."
Some are a tad annoyed that Atlus is keeping things so vague: "10 years for just a logo?"
It's very possible that Persona 6 remains years away given all of this vagueness. Persona 3 Reload launched in 2024 with Persona 4 Revival scheduled for 2027.
Does that mean we could be looking at 2030 for Persona 6 if Atlus sticks with three year gaps? That's merely speculation, and we're certainly hoping we're wrong because that would be a long and painful wait.
On the Xbox Wire blog, the title merely received only this mention: "Persona fans received not one but two incredible trailers at today’s Showcase. One was the world premiere Persona 6 teaser that will make RPG fans go wild with excitement! The much-anticipated Persona 6 brings everything beloved about the series into a bold new standalone story. Wishlist Persona 6 today!"
Well, hopefully more about this one trickles out over the coming months because we're hungry for more.
