PlayStation Plus will be dropping a free RPG onto the service next week which will take you over a hundred hours to beat.

As we reported yesterday, PlayStation Plus has announced the next batch of titles that will be landing on the Extra and Premium tiers next week, coming on 17 March.

Among these games is Persona 5 Royal (and Persona 5 Royal Ultimate Edition), an updated version of 2016’s Persona 5. Both games are available to play on PS4 and PS5.

The game is a turn-based RPG where you play as Joker, a high-school student who joins a secret vigilante group known as the Phantom Thieves, composed of individuals who have awoken to a special power and can explore a supernatural realm which exists in tandem with modern-day Tokyo.

How Long Does It Take To Beat Persona 5 Royal?

One thing to note about Persona 5 Royal is that it’s one of the biggest games in the series to date, taking you roughly over a hundred hours to complete.

How Long To Beat, a website dedicated to informing players about how long it takes to beat certain games, Persona 5 Royal is listed as taking around 123 hours on average to complete.

Breaking this down into specific playstyles, those who want to purely experience the main story will be able to roll credits after 101 hours, while those who want to play the main story with some side content will take around 123 hours to complete it.

Rather helpfully, How Long To Beat also includes the note: "Persona 5 Royal will take you approximately 12 Weeks to complete if you play for 1.5 hours a day while focusing on some extra content."

Finally, completionists who strive to see every single thing Persona 5 Royal has to offer will find themselves playing up to 141 hours to finish it.

That’s quite a lot of stuff to do, if you’re so inclined to take on this behemoth of a game.

It’s quite daunting, but I will say that Persona 5 Royal is one of the best JRPGs from the last ten years that you can play. The original game won many awards back in 2016 and 2017, including “Best RPG” at The Game Awards.

Meanwhile, the game has spun-off with many other games, including Persona 5 Strikers, a hack-and-slash RPG, and Persona 5 Tactica, a turn-based tactics game similar to XCOM.

In addition to Persona 5 Royal, PlayStation Plus Extra will also be getting Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Madden NFL 26, Metal Eden, The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria, Astroneer, and Blasphemous 2 next week.

PlayStation Plus Premium will also get Tekken: Dark Resurrection on the same date, available for any subscribers of the most expensive tier.
