If you're still kicking yourself that you missed out on Mancake, Lara Croft, Peter Griffin, or the OG Peely, the Epic Games overlords are smiling down on you because your favourite Battle Pass skins could soon be back in the shop.
For many, the whole point of playing Fortnite is shelling out your V-Bucks each season to buy the Battle Pass and then level up through the ranks. While some will use various XP hacks to try and cheat the system to unlock that bonus tier of rewards, only the most hardened players tend to polish off the lot.
Casuals tend to fall foul of this system, and god forbid you want to take a vacation without pumping every waking hour into playing your battle royale favourite. Epic is attempting to fix this by bringing classic Battle Pass skins back to the shop. As with all things Fortnite, the vocal minority is already making its voice heard.

We're used to Fortnite vaulting and unvaulting weapons, while skins often return to the Item Shop after what can feel like an eternity away. Even though we're still waiting for God of War's Kratos to come back to the Item Shop (one day, my precious), a June 28 update will see a host of Marvel-themed skins make a triumphant return. Reminding us of when Fortnite OG rotates through previous seasons in terms of gameplay, this long-awaited perk is bringing back skins from Chapter 5 Season 4: Absolute Doom. The most recent Marvel season ran from August 16 to November 2, 2024, with skins including Emma Frost and Captain Jones making up the Battle Pass. The star of the show was Peelverine, so we're sure those who missed out on getting him will be flocking to the shop.

After already coming under fire for the revamped V-Bucks pricing structure, Epic Games is now facing a baptism of fire from angry gamers. It originally vowed never to resell Battle Pass-exclusive rewards, which made it something of a must-buy for players.
Since August 2024, Epic Games has talked about walking back its Battle Pass exclusivity, although skins can't be sold within the first 18 months of a Battle Pass' end. That 18 months has lapsed for Absolute Doom, and like clockwork, Peelverine and co. are arriving in the Item Shop.
It's still far cheaper to buy the Battle Pass than all the skins individually, but if you didn't manage to get one specific character you were after, it's a big win.
The opposite is true, with one Reddit thread sharing a series of angry comments from those demanding refunds for their previous Battle Pass purchases.
Replying to an Instagram video announcing the return of these Marvel stalwarts, one person wrote: "So what your trying to say is don't buy the battle pass anymore cause its eventually gonna come out in the item shop."
Another got 15,000 likes as they added: "We deserve free refunds then."
Others on Reddit were more supportive, arguing that most of those complaining likely haven't touched these skins since earning them. Backing Epic games, someone said: "Idk why people are mad when Epic literally said this would happen. I own this bp and I just don’t understand why people are mad that others get something they like."
A second concluded: "You really care if you have a digital skin and someone else doesn't? Not like it's even like counter strike or something where you can sell your inventory, grow up. Use the skins that you enjoy.
"I get that the FOMO drives sales and they want to keep it to an extent, but the 18 month waiting period + better value for getting it in the pass earlier is enough for that."
Even if this is just another way for Fortnite to make bank on its most popular skins, most don't see what the big issue is.
