Forget Fallout 5, this Fallout 3 remake is stunning

Just give us more Fallout

Right now it’s Fallout this, and Fallout that. Understandably so, it’s a tremendous franchise that, until recently hasn’t moved much at Bethesda HQ.

While we were all waiting for Fallout 5, it seems Todd Howard and the crew were instead putting together the Fallout show from Amazon Prime, which is looking amazing from the reviews.

GAMINGbible had a lot of fun with the cast of Fallout playing Snog, Marry, Irradiate

Well, forget all that for a moment because this Fallout 3 remake is looking pretty darn sweet.

It comes from a small team who are working to remake Fallout 3 with newer technology to bring it up to today’s standards. This means upscaled textures, better lighting, and ray tracing turned up to 11.

According to the creators they were using several ray tracing options including “global illumination, shadows, reflections, and ambient occlusion.” And from what we’ve seen, it’s looking lush.

Whether this project turns into anything more than a bunch of videos, it’s hard to say. But even then, it’s a great trip down memory lane to a game that has stood the test of time.

Fallout 3 is held up as one of the best RPGs of all -time and in the franchise only comes second to New Vegas, which steals the show. It was the first time the franchise went 3D and the immersive feeling of the wasteland was terrific.

This team isn’t the only one eyeing Fallout 3 for a remake, but whether Bethesda decides to do it themselves, is hard to say. Perhaps, given the current love for the series, it may become a solid possibility.

For now, we’ll have to look lovingly at this footage, then go and watch the Fallout show before redownloading the older games. It’s the perfect time to revisit the wasteland and the vaults.
