The Fallout franchise has a ton of memorable characters that pop in and out of the post-apocalyptic wasteland, from Matthew Perry's scheming casino owner Benny to President John Henry Eden.
None, perhaps, are as immediately recognisable as Mr House, whose machinations define a lot of the story in Fallout: New Vegas, as he seeks to cleanse the strip and surrounding Nevada desert of warring factions and criminal gangs.
He is ruthless and pragmatic, heading forwards with absolute certainty towards his goals, assured by himself that he's absolutely doing the right thing, even if a lot of people in New Vegas and beyond end up dead.
Whether he is good or bad depends on your perspective, but he's a deep and interesting character with a particularly iconic look. The interesting thing about that last part is that it could all have been so different.

Over on Reddit, a user posted an image of Mr House as he appeared in the beta for Fallout: New Vegas, a discovery which came after YouTuber GamesPastOrg found a copy of the game in that state.
In it, he looks considerably less handsome and considerably more nefarious, though the hallmark moustache does remain firmly rooted to his face.
As you might expect, the comments were filled with horrified players who just didn't want to look at it any more.
"Release Version: Imposing man of stature and gravitas. Beta Version: Is not allowed within 500 feet of a school," one comment read.

"Beta House looks like he wants to trap my pink dog in my bathroom and shave off all his hair," another comment posted, referencing the genuinely terrifying Freaky Fred episode of Courage the Cowardly Dog (watch it if you haven't already).
"Remember watching one of those Iceberg videos and seeing this. I was flabbergasted seeing the Beta House. Dude looks like a straight-up creep," a third said.
Others were just amazed that it had been found in the first place, with one saying, "Oh damn. Someone actually found a beta with that old Mr House image. The most we ever had before was a unused alternate ending slide and prerelease pics, but never the actual image itself in-game."
If you want to see it for yourself, your best bet is to just look at the still image, with beta versions of New Vegas infamously difficult to track down, even in the darkest corners of the internet.
