This custom-made Fallout: New Vegas “remaster” isn’t technically a remaster in the regular sense, but it’s making me even more desperate to get my hands on the real thing.
One of the gaming industry’s worst-kept secrets is that, according to several sources, either a remaster or a full-blown remake of Obsidian Entertainment’s Fallout: New Vegas is currently in development.
Now, we don’t know who is handling the remake, although I’d wager it’s probably Virtuos (the studio behind The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered), but there’s a solid chance it won’t be Bethesda.
They’re obviously way too busy working on The Elder Scrolls VI, which is doubtlessly (and hopefully) their main focus at the moment. On the plus side, that means that there’s a strong chance we might actually see Fallout: New Vegas Remastered at some point in the next decade.

In the meantime, you can have a gander at what a remastered version of Fallout: New Vegas may look like… just don’t get your hopes up if you like what you see, because you’ll never be able to play it.
If you’ve heard of the name Mojo Swoptops, you probably already know where I’m about to go with this. They’re the YouTuber behind several popular Far Cry 5 Arcade Mode videos, like this incredibly popular one from 2018 where they recreated the set from Friends in the game.

Well, they’re back, and they’re clearly just as sick of the wait for the next Fallout game as the rest of us. Using the power of Far Cry 5’s custom map editor in its Arcade Mode, Mojo Swoptops has managed to remake Fallout: New Vegas.

That’s partially true, at least, because we’ll never know exactly how much of the game they’ve remade… because they seemingly don’t plan to release their work in any playable form.
I see videos from Far Cry 5’s Arcade Mode pop up every now and again, and I’m blown away by how much you can do with it. Kind of makes me sad that Ubisoft ended up dropping it for Far Cry 6, but hopefully its upcoming sequel has something similar for us to sink our teeth into.
For now, though, this is the closest thing we’ll be getting to a Fallout: New Vegas Remastered until the real thing comes out.
Hopefully the real remaster won’t bring back the recently discovered Mr House romance cut content, too, for all our sakes…
