So many games nowadays tackle the post-apocalyptic future, all with varying success and different narrative flavours.
The setting has become a tried and true way to tell stories, with some verging on the horrific, while others take a sci-fi approach, and this new shooter over on Steam seems to be pulling from several inspirations.
Phantom Line is a co-op shooter for up to four players, where you join part of a paranormal S.W.A.T. team on the hunt in an apocalyptic world.

Post-nuclear Europe is the destination, and the vast open-world sits before us, giving off major Fallout vibes, though there’s no wry irony or witty humour here.
This is a dark and twisted reality, one where science meets spooky creatures, and the screenshots over on the Steam store page have a certain aesthetic edging into a near future, akin to Cyberpunk 2077.
Of course, worlds like these are often plagued by political structures oppressing the people in turmoil, which is where our Far Cry comparison comes in.
And all of this mixes together to bring what looks to be an enthralling and exciting co-op shooter, to test the wills of any player.

The core feature here is the ability to move your consciousness into other artificial beings, shifting the battlefield in the blink of an eye.
Not only that, but the world is ever-changing, with in-game events twisting the game as you play.
There appears to be some extraction gameplay thrown in here, which will offer a very engaging loop to keep players invested, so this is one to keep an eye on.
Sadly, there’s no firm release date set, but it will be entering early access on Steam, and if the screenshots and video are anything to go by, Phantom Line could prove to be the next big shooter on the market.
