This upcoming horror first-person shooter can be yours to try out for free very soon, although said announcement was coupled with another, less happy announcement.
If you’ve ever wanted a game that combines the atmospheric horror of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series with the gunplay of both Fallout 4 and Far Cry, then you may want to keep an eye on this new spooky FPS on Steam.
Shadow Project is a "narrative-focused, horror FPS" from developer and publisher SK Studios that was announced just under a year ago now.
The first trailer for the game generated a decent amount of buzz online when it first dropped, but since then, updates about the project have been pretty sparse.

However, we did get a pretty big update at the end of last week– although you should be warned that the good news in the update was coupled with a bit of bad news.
As the devs revealed in a news post on Steam, Shadow Project will officially be getting a demo in just over a weeks time, on August 8.
“On the other side of the news, we've had to push Shadow Project back to 2026”, the devs announced in the Steam post.
“Because we want to aim for such a high-quality bar, while still being a full-length video game, it's the right choice. I will be doing monthly updates starting now about the development going forward. We're also looking for your feedback and support in our Discord, where I will share development updates frequently.”

Honestly, that’s fair. I do like that the devs were pretty straightforward about the delay, and it’s hard to hold any kind of delay against them when the team appears to be comprised of only three people.
Just make sure you wishlist this one if you’re keen, so you can keep up to date with the monthly news posts that SK Studios have promised.
