With Bethesda reportedly hard at work on development for both The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5, it would seem as though we may not be getting a release date for the latter for at least a decade.
Yes, you read that correctly.
Well, at least we have Fallout 76 in the meantime!
It has been almost seven years since the latest Fallout instalment, Fallout 76, was released and this year even celebrates the 10-year anniversary of Fallout 4’s release, but it would seem as though Bethesda is in no hurry to release the next entry in the much-loved RPG series.

With work on its latest RPG, Starfield, now wrapped up, we can imagine that the studio is turning its attention to both The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5.
However, with both projects not releasing any updates over recent years, fans are starting to feel disappointed with the lack of progression.
Bethesda, who took over control of the Fallout franchise from Fallout 3 onwards, merely took seven years to release Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 came just three years later.
So, if you think about it, it would perhaps make sense that Fallout 5 is not expected until at least 2028.

However, thanks to the rise in technology and its abilities, video games can be released a lot quicker in this day and age, so it seems strange that there would be such a delay.
So much so that Fallout fans recently took to r/Fallout to express their thoughts over Fallout 5 potentially not being released for another 10-years.
User fanboy_killer wrote, “I'd settle for a remake of 1, 2, 3 or NV using 4's engine.”
However, user Dull_Half_6107 is thinking bigger.

“I wish they’d just make more use of the IP,” they shared.
Give us some different types of Fallout games too, I’m sure I could come up with a proper Fallout FPS.
Give inXile a chance to make another isometric version.
The IP could be used for so much, rather than waiting 10 years for Bethesda to crap out another Starfield.”

With Starfield receiving quite a bit of criticism, it would seem as though Bethesda has a lot to make up for.
Hopefully we won’t have to wait 10-years to find out.
