Fallout fans aren’t particularly thrilled with the idea that the fifth entry in the mainline franchise is still several years out, although who could really blame them, considering how long it's been since Fallout 4 dropped?
When exactly is Bethesda planning to release Fallout 5? No idea!
Alright, well, we have a very vague idea… and it’s not good news.
Obviously Bethesda is hard at work on The Elder Scrolls VI at the moment, so they probably don’t have a lot of time free to just start work on a completely different game.

The release of Fallout 5 heavily depends on exactly how long it’ll take Bethesda to finish TES VI, which is rumoured to come out sometime in 2027. Based on that, fans assume that we won’t see a new mainline Fallout game until sometime around 2032 (at the earliest).
So, how are the folks over on the r/Fallout subreddit taking this news? Not well, unsurprisingly.
“Like... Bethesda should ABSOLUTELY pivot away from Elder Scrolls VI and onto Fallout 5,” commented user grimorg80.
“Letting all this hype go to waste would be an insult to the spirit of Marketing. FFS. What stupid stupid stupid choice.”

“They wasted time on Starfield, teased us with the TV show and now saying that we won't see FO5 in foreseeable future, it's just cruel,” replied user Spicy-hot_Ramen.
“Wish they dedicated a team to develop a Fallout spinoff game.”
On the plus side, there is that heavily rumoured/borderline confirmed Fallout 3 remake on the way, plus the new season of Amazon’s Fallout TV series is dropping very, very soon.
Of course, none of this actually makes up for the lack of a new entry in the series, as Fallout 4 is well over a decade old at this point.

I do think we’ll see Fallout 5 eventually… just don’t hold your breath, because I don’t think it’ll drop at any point in the 2020s.
