Fans eagerly awaiting the release of Fallout 5 are becoming increasingly frustrated, and we get it.
Alongside the likes of The Elder Scrolls series, one of Bethesda’s other popular properties is Fallout.
Ever since Bethesda released its first game in the series, Fallout 3 in 2008, the post-apocalyptic wasteland adventures have gotten bigger and arguably better with each new release. Well, perhaps not Fallout 76, but still.
Understandably, fans are desperate for the release of its expected next entry in the series, Fallout 5. The only problem is that it’s not officially announced by Bethesda, but it has at least been acknowledged by Todd Howard.

Regardless, fans are becoming increasingly frustrated about the lack of updates on the development progress of Fallout 5, with most feeling that they’ve been kept in the dark.
“I blame the dev time and budgets for modern video games and for what’s going on in the industry,” tweeted JamieMoranUK, listing fantastic releases we had in the seventh console generation, including Batman: Arkham, Mass Effect, BioShock, Fallout and more.

“Well, yeah, I have written off The Elder Scrolls and Fallout games because I might not live long enough to see them,” replied magicrat_larry. “They could have released six by now with the same game engine with new stories.”
“Bethesda ran into the same issue Valve faced with Half-Life 3, where the incredible success of the predecessor raises expectations for the sequel to a level that can't possibly be achieved and the more that time passes, the higher the expectations get,” responded AStev1689, making a valid point.
It’s unclear as to when Fallout 5 will be released, but if one thing is a given, it will most likely arrive after The Elder Scrolls VI. Which, by the way, The Elder Scrolls VI was announced seven years ago, and not even that has a release date.
Of course, we’ll update you once we hear more on the development progress of both Fallout 5 and The Elder Scrolls VI.
