Fallout 5 teaser has gamers slamming release window already

Anti-Microsoft sentiment is at an all-time high

Great news, Fallout 5 is apparently in production!

Shame we’ll have to wait until the 2030s for it though.

Alright, so, a couple of weeks ago, a leaker revealed that Bethesda is reportedly moving forward with several Fallout games.

This news initially came via VGC’s Jordan Middler, during an appearance on the Friends Per Second podcast. It was then corroborated by Windows Central’s Jez Corden on the Xbox Two podcast.

Details regarding this are a little murky (as details in leaks tend to be), but here’s what we can confirm: one of the Fallout games in question is Fallout 5, but it may not be developed by Bethesda.

Published by Bethesda and Microsoft, yes, but it seems that another studio under the Xbox banner may be the ones developing the game (while Bethesda is hard at work on The Elder Scrolls VI).

So, this is great news, right? We’re finally getting a new Fallout game.

Unfortunately, the sentiment in a thread on the r/gaming subreddit is that this is too little, too late.

Many still aren’t happy with Microsoft following their recent wave of layoffs, and others are simply baffled that it’s taken Bethesda this long to move forward with a new Fallout game.

“I'll celebrate in a decade, I guess”, commented user disastermarch35.

“It’s Microsoft so I’m not going to get my hope up and instead I’ll just plan for the whole team to get laid off soon”, replied user WarpHype.

"Unbelievable that Bethesda didn't staff up to get TES6 and F5 into production", commented one user.

"Basically wasted a decade on Starfield. All that money and goodwill on the table and they've just left It sitting there."

Look, I don’t really have anything else to add here beyond… yeah, man.

Fallout 4 is almost ten years old now. The Elder Scrolls VI has taken god knows how many years to finish. And in between all of this, there’s the looming threat that Microsoft might just fire half the team and replace them with AI.

Best case scenario, we’ll get this game in the early 2030s– and that’s if you’re lucky.
