Fallout’s very first game in the franchise is beloved, but often difficult to play nowadays, thanks to relatively archaic gameplay mechanics.
For years, fans have been screaming out for a remake of the original game, desperate to see it remade in the first-person view we’ve become so used to, and now, some Fallout fans are having a stab at it.
Fallout: Bakersfield is a unique project that must be followed by anyone who considers themselves a fan of the franchise.
Sure, it’s not coming from Bethesda, but what’s show in the trailer over on YouTube is genuinely brilliant.

The game’s story and set pieces are all being remade, from scratch, within the 1993 DOOM engine, keeping all the crunchy pixels intact.
As the trailer plays out, we start with the camera pulling back to show off the wasteland before diving into the action, which looks like DOOM and Fallout had a wonderfully anarchic child.
The old school visuals really heighten the project, making it feel more like Fallout than ever before and fans adore it.
“Please, don't let this die” pleads one viewer, commenting below the video.

Another viewer jumps in to say, “Never seen a fan project get so close to the OG vibe.”
It’s clear that this is so authentically ‘Fallout’ and another fan says, “Call me crazy, but this looks aesthetically WAYYYY more pleasing than Fallout 4. It just nails the original atmosphere perfectly!”
It’s an impressive project and one that should see the light of day, with any luck.
“Duuuuuuude whaaaat this looked cool at first, but the gameplay got me so hyped. This looks frickin legit. This has more Fallout vibes than the last few actual games,” exclaims yet another fan, in a long list of impressed viewers.

One last fan is tapping into our thoughts exactly, saying, “Please, for the love of god, release a demo. I'm dying to try this.”
