Fallout 4: Mind Games is a hefty new 'fan DLC' you can try now

Bethesda needs to hire this person immediately because this is incredible work for a first time mod author

A brand new DLC-sized mod for Fallout 4 just dropped over on Nexus, with voice acting and dialogue so good that it puts a lot of Bethesda’s official work to shame.

Thank you in advance to John Papadopoulos over on Dark Side of Gaming for bringing its release to the internet’s attention!

Mind Games is, according to mod author OscarN1N7, “a DLC-sized expansion of Fallout 4's story” which tasks players with taking on “a new detective case with Nick Valentine, while you both grapple with a mercenary's lingering presence.”

The version available right now is only a demo of what OscarN1N7 plans to release down the line, which is extra impressive considering it already features “three to four main quests of Mind Games, as well as three side quests and other miscellaneous quests" and a “brand new town in the Commonwealth called The Sluice, complete with new characters, vendors and side quests."

That’s not all though, as Mind Games also has a “new companion”, “new underground areas to explore” and “custom music.”

If you think all of that sounds impressive enough already, then wait until you see some of the videos OscarN1N7 has released showing off the mod’s quests - like this one that features Piper interacting with some of Mind Games’ new characters.

According to the mod author, all of the new dialogue has been voiced by real actors and all of the pre-existing characters’ dialogue has been recycled from other parts of the game. That means that none of what you’re hearing is (thankfully) AI-generated.

Personally, the most incredible thing about this mod is that it’s actually the first one OscarN1N7 has ever worked on.

There’s no current release date in sight for the full release, or as the mod author puts it: “I'll announce a release date when I know I can stick to it.”
