Fallout 4 'difficult' hidden ending divides fans

Is this worth the effort? It seems not

Prime Video’s Fallout didn’t exactly dominate at the Emmy Awards, but it was up against Shōgun - which is, if you ask me, the greatest TV series released this year.

Fallout was undeniably deserving of its nominations though and easily joins HBO’s The Last of Us as one of the greatest video game adaptations of all-time.

Following the TV show’s premiere, players flocked to discover Bethesda’s acclaimed game series - whether that was for the first time or as a returning player.

I was a part of that horde, diving into Fallout 4 for the first time in a few years.

It was a good ol’ time. In fact, it was like stepping back in time.

Players were sharing handy new tips and tricks, filling in fellow fans on the game’s secret locations … It was as if we’d stepped out of 2024 and back into 2015.

It was also nice that, to coincide with this, Bethesda finally launched Fallout 4’s new-gen update.

Well, it does feel as if the dust has somewhat settled on this moment in time but if you are still out there exploring the wastelands, I have a question for you.

Have you ever unlocked Fallout’s most ‘difficult’ ending?

ICYMI: We played snog, marry, irradiate with the cast of Fallout. Take a look below.

I say ‘difficult’ as this ending is a point of contention amongst the fanbase.

It’s one of the lesser-experienced endings but it’s also not too dissimilar from a very common ending.

This hidden ending sees you finish the game with the Brotherhood of Steel, Minutemen, and Railroad factions all alive.

You have to complete several of the game’s missions in a specific order. Do so, and you’ll end up with some unique dialogue that you can’t get in any other ending.

The sole survivor should be in good standing with all three factions with all factions at peace, and all topside companions alive.

You see, this ending isn’t all that dissimilar from the minutemen ending which is pretty commonplace, which begs the question: is it worth adhering to such a specific order of quests just to unlock a few subtle voiced lines?

Well, perhaps not - which may be why there’s a mod that allows you to hop straight into a save with this ending.

If you see this ‘hidden’ ending floating around in discussion circles, I wouldn’t waste too much time on chasing it. As many have said online, it’s practically a carbon copy of something you’ve likely already experienced.
