‘Elden Ring’ Player Figures Out How To Make Boss Self-Destruct

One Elden Ring player took to Reddit after figuring out how to make one of the game's bosses defeat itself.

I can’t believe that almost four months after Elden Ring’s release, players are still finding creative ways to tackle the game and its formidable bosses but hey, I’m impressed.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Anyone who completes Elden Ring in the standard fashion deserves a medal of honour. The players that tackle nigh impossible feats have simply transcended onto another plane out of reach for us mere mortals. I’m talking about players who have defeated all 165 bosses in under eight hours, or who have completed the game blindfolded. Those are real things that have happened.

Have you ever wondered which of Elden Ring’s bosses is the most powerful? Check out this incredible boss battle royale to find out.

One player has taken to the r/EldenRing subreddit to explain how they defeated one of the game’s bosses without launching a single attack, instead prompting the boss to self-destruct. The boss in question is the Mimic Tear, so we’re not talking about a battle that’s top-tier difficult here. In fact, Mimic Tears are recurring and somewhat fun boss fights. Still, I’ve never seen anyone tackle one quite like this.

If you don’t know, the Mimic Tear does exactly what it sounds like. It mimics your build, using your own attacks against you. Reddit user Going_Loki entered the fight simply equipped with a dagger complete with the Bloody Slash armament. Bloody Slash depletes some of your own XP to coat the dagger in your blood, increasing its power.

You may see where this is going. Going_Loki repeatedly dodged as the Mimic Tear slashed away with the Bloody Slash imbued dagger until the Mimic Tear died, after depleting the entirety of its own XP. Simple, yet oh so creative. Like I say, Mimic Tears are by no means difficult bosses in the grand scheme of things, but it sure could be fun to watch them self-destruct from time to time.
