A free update for Elden Ring is available to download now

Elden Ring is not only considered to be one of the best video games in recent years, but it’s also one of the best of all time and has a Metacritic score of 96 earning the ‘Must-Play’ accolade which further backs up such claims.

In February 2023, roughly a year after the release of Elden Ring, developers FromSoftware announced its first expansion Shadow of the Erdtree to much excitement among the Soulsborne community. However, we’re still left waiting for the arrival of the highly anticipated expansion, but some fans believe that Shadow of the Erdtree might drop very soon.

In our review of Elden Ring, we said that it’s: “a constantly surprising adventure that has taken FromSoftware’s tried-and-tested formula to delirious new heights. One of the best video games of the last decade, and an absolutely essential release, Elden Ring really does confirm that 2022 is off to an incredible start.”

This week FromSoftware has deployed the free 1.10.1 patch which it’s main purpose is to hopefully prevent those pesky cheaters from plaguing the Lands Between. Those that have played the multiplayer side of Elden Ring whether it be in its story or its post-launch PvP mode may have encountered some exploiters from time to time. The anti-cheat update is currently live on PC Steam and should boot up the next time you play the game.

There is some hope amongst the Soulsborne community that patch 1.10.1 may have also been deployed in preparation for Shadow of the Erdtree with fingers crossed that FromSoftware may even shadowdrop the expansion in the coming weeks. Only time will tell. That being said, can we have a Bloodborne remaster and Bloodborne 2 already, pretty please? We’ll love you even more, FromSoftware.

Elden Ring is out now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
