‘Sword Heart Shura’ is a free download for FromSoftware’s Elden Ring, and you can claim it right now.

Elden Ring, for many, is one of the greatest video games of all time courtesy of the famed Dark Souls and Blooborne developer, FromSoftware. Speaking of that wonderful game that takes us to Yharnham, are we ever going to get Bloodborne 2?

Released in February 2022, the moment Elden Ring graced us with its presence, it was met with instant critical acclaim from reviewers and fans alike, and the same can be said for its 2024 expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree.

In our review of Elden Ring, we said it’s: “a constantly surprising adventure that has taken FromSoftware’s tried-and-tested formula to delirious new heights. One of the best video games of the last decade, and an absolutely essential release, Elden Ring really does confirm that 2022 is off to an incredible start.”

Fans of FromSoftware would love nothing more than Elden Ring 2 to be announced, but we can at least take comfort in knowing that a new game is on the way that takes us back to the Lands Between once more with Elden Ring Nightreign.

However, while we wait for more Elden Ring goodness, as reported by DSOgaming, you can download the fan-made DLC, ‘Sword Heart Shura-Total Combat remake’ for free via Nexusmods right now.

Created by modder RuntimeQAQ, ‘Sword Heart Shura-Total Combat remake’ overhauls the combat of Elden Ring by enhancing the way players can block enemy attacks, counter deadly flurries, as well as being able to switch between offensive and defensive stances on the fly.

After installing this mod, DSOGaming describes the combat as being similar to the likes of Rise of the Ronin and Black Myth: Wukong.

Sadly, as is the nature of most mods, ‘Sword Heart Shura-Total Combat remake’ is a PC exclusive.

Elden Ring Nightreign arrives on 30 May 2025 for PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
