Steam’s most wishlisted game ever finally has a release date, more than six years after it was originally announced.
You’re not going to believe it, but after seven years of silence, Hollow Knight: Silksong finally has a release date.
Originally planned as downloadable content for 2017’s Hollow Knight, Silksong quickly grew in scope beyond its initial premise, and Team Cherry later changed it to be its own standalone sequel.
However, ever since its initial reveal in 2019, Team Cherry has stayed relatively quiet on the game’s release date. That changed today when the developer released a 2-minute trailer revealing when we’ll all be able to finally play the game.

Well, it looks like we can hang up the memes for now, as we’ll all finally be able to play the game in two weeks’ time.
So, maybe that’ll stop you all from spamming “Silksong?” in Nintendo Direct chats. At the very least, it should mean we can all take our clown makeup off now.
The wild anticipation behind Hollow Knight: Silksong led to the game becoming Steam's most wishlisted title, an accolade that isn't particularly easy to take. So, it's nice to see that it's finally here after all these years.
Bloomberg recently reported on why Silksong took seven years to release, and the answer is actually surprisingly wholesome.

"We've been having fun," Team Cherry co-founder Ari Gibson told Bloomberg. "This whole thing is just a vehicle for our creativity anyway. It's nice to make fun things."
So, yeah, it turns out that it had nothing to do with burnout, or development hell, or any other issues that can delay a game. Team Cherry is just filled with passionate individuals who enjoy making things, and don’t know when to stop.
