Elden Ring DLC release date seemingly appears online

Elden Ring expansion Shadow of the Erdtree's release date may be near.

When FromSoftware’s Elden Ring was released in 2022, it not only became one of the best games of that year but also one of the greatest of all time.

On aggregate websites such as Metacritic, Elden Ring garnered scores as high as 96/100. We scored it a perfect 10/10 with our reviewer Ewan Moore saying: “Elden Ring is a constantly surprising adventure that has taken FromSoftware’s tried-and-tested formula to delirious new heights. One of the best video games of the last decade.”

So when the first major DLC to Elden Ring was announced earlier in the year with Shadow of the Erdtree, it sent a legion of fans into a frenzy of excitement wondering what new and deadly adventures await in the Lands Between. What’s more, it seems that developer FromSoftware has teased even more Elden Ring DLC at a later date.

At this time, a release date for Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree hasn't been announced, but that may be about to change very soon. An article was shared by Twitter user NextGenPlayer from Italian media outlet Multiplayer, which teases that Shadow of the Erdtree will apparently be shown at The Game Awards this coming December, and carries a release date of 5 February 2024.

FromSoftware would have been working on Shadow of the Erdtree following the release of Elden Ring, so nearly two years later, it makes sense that the developer would have something to show soon. Furthermore, releasing the highly anticipated DLC during February, the same month the main game was launched in 2022, would be very befitting.

Of course, at this time, the rumours are unconfirmed so until FromSoftware or Elden Ring publisher Bandai Namco makes an official announcement, we should take this speculation with a pinch of salt.

Elden Ring is out now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
