Elden Ring fans have spotted a new listing at an online retailer which seemingly proves an imminent release.
It’s been a little while since we’ve heard more news on Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, the Nintendo Switch 2 port of FromSoftware’s 2022 epic action RPG.
The game was thought to originally be out a lot closer to the launch of the Switch 2, which occurred last June, though some lacklustre early impressions from press resulted in the port being postponed.
Now, users have spotted that Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition has appeared for pre-order on Canadian online retailer PNP Games, and what’s more is the release date may have also been leaked via there.

PNP Games seems to have fixed the error, but for a brief time the retailer had listed Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition with an estimated ship date of 10 July, 2026. It has now been replaced with a placeholder date of 31 December, 2026.
It’s entirely possible that FromSoftware and Bandai Namco were holding off on announcing a date until an upcoming Nintendo Direct, with one rumoured for June to coincide with the Summer Game Fest presentations.
Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition was shown to the press and public at Gamescom last year, but it drew negative reactions due to the alleged poor performance of the game on Nintendo’s hardware.
IGN branded the game as a “disaster”, noting that “frame rate drops were significant when turning the camera whilst exploring outside of the tutorial area”. Nintendo Life backed this up by saying that framerates dipped to as low as 15fps in certain areas.
This led to FromSoftware remaining quiet about the release for a bit while it worked on optimising the game to run better on the platform.

Earlier this year, an updated version of the port was shown to press who had more positive reactions.
Indeed, many outlets noted that the game was significantly improved over the earlier version they had played.
However, the game is still limited to 30fps on Nintendo Switch 2, which may be a compromise that some people aren’t willing to make.
Still, considering the sales numbers of the Nintendo Switch 2 (almost 20 million units in the first year of release), plus the fact that Elden Ring has been FromSoftware’s most successful game to date, it makes sense why you’d delay the game in order to get it working in a manner players will find acceptable.
We’re banking on Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition making an appearance at the next Nintendo Direct, whether that’s a general one or a partner showcase, where the release could be officially announced.
The next Nintendo Direct is currently rumoured for June, near enough to the rest of the streams happening as part of Summer Game Fest.
