'Dying Light 2' Free Update Adding New Mode, Story Content

Techland is introducing a brand-new mode, and a small slice of new story content, to Dying Light 2 later this week.

In a free update scheduled to drop tomorrow (April 27), Dying Light 2 will finally receive the long-awaited New Game Plus mode, which will allow players to have beaten the game to start the adventure again on a harder difficulty while retaining most of their gear and upgrades.

Traversal tools like the grappling hook and glider will need to be obtained again, of course, just so you don't completely break the game's first few story quests.

Update 1.3.0 will also add a new FOV slider option for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, as well as the usual raft of bug fixes and quality of life tweaks.

Meanwhile, the New Game Plus mode will also contain new enemies that scale to the player's level, and 30 new inhibitors scattered across the open world to find.

As if that wasn't enough, players can also expect a rather concerning sounding new quest called 'Something Big Has Been Here'. This new story content will include brand-new enemies, and I'm guessing they won't go down easy.

Finally, there are a bunch of new special enemy encounters are challenges to track down, each with their own special rewards. All in all, sounds like the perfect time to jump back into Dying Light 2.

When I reviewed Dying Light 2 for GAMINGbible back in February, I argued that it was a fantastic open-world zombie playground let down by a rough story and quite a bit of bloat. With that said, it's still an absolute blast to play, and I can't wait to see what more Techland has in store for the game over the next few years.
