Not to alarm anyone, but Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be officially upon us next week. Everyone stay calm. Or don’t, because there’s a lot to be hyped about here.
Doctor Strange’s upcoming outing promises a whole load of exciting twists - one film pundit, John Campea, claimed earlier this month that the film isn’t being screened at CinemaCon due to a higher level of security surrounding it, as “there are more big surprises in Doctor Strange 2 than in Infinity War, Endgame, and Spider-Man: No Way Home combined”. Even before this, fans had been speculating what we might be able to expect to happen - after all, when the multiverse is involved, the possibilities are practically endless. Now, as reported by GamesRadar+, a newly released trailer has officially confirmed one popular fan theory.
Check out the latest trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness right here, complete with the confirmation of something big that fans have been hoping for.
Let’s rewind. The thing that Marvel nerds are going wild over is just one line of dialogue, which we hear Karl Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) say right towards the end of the teaser: “Steven Strange, the Illuminati will see you now.” So, yeah, Illuminati confirmed, just as many people were hoping for.

In case you were unfamiliar, in the Marvel comics, the Illuminati are a secret team of superheroes who make huge decisions that impact humanity - all completely confidentially, of course. Steven Strange was one of the original members of this group, along with Iron Man, Black Bolt, Mister Fantastic, Namor, and Professor X.
Although it still hasn’t been officially confirmed by Marvel, earlier this year, fans noticed Sir Patrick Stewart’s voice in the trailer aired during the Super Bowl, and although the actor seemed to deny his involvement at first, he later went on to say that he “didn’t recognise” his own voice when he watched the footage, which seemingly validates his inclusion as Professor X in the movie. So, chances are, his character will be introduced via the Illuminati, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness releases in UK cinemas on 5 May (6 May in the US).
