Star Wars fans are torn over who could be the next live-action Luke Skywalker, but some say that his potential replacement is “too old”.
If there ever comes a time when Disney and Lucasfilm decide to recast the role of Luke Skywalker in a Star Wars live-action movie or TV series, it will undoubtedly be controversial, regardless.
Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill says that he’s done with the legendary character, which only leaves a handful of options. Recast the role with another actor, use AI with Mark Hamill’s likeness and voice (again) or just let Luke Skywalker retire happily as a Jedi ghost.

So, if Disney and Lucasfilm were to recast the live-action role of Luke Skywalker, who would they hire for the role?
A popular choice with fans over the years has been Sebastian Stan, perhaps best known for playing Bucky Barnes aka Winter Soldier in the MCU.

However, at the not-old whatsoever age of 42, some feel the opportunity for Sebastian Stan to play Luke Skywalker has passed, despite Mark Hamill backing the actor.
“What would you think of a movie starring Sebastian Stan and Rachel Brosnahan as Luke and Leia, respectively?” asked Redditor Castanha_de_Marte. Rachel Brosnahan, age 34 at the time of writing, is set to play Lois Lane in Superman, directed and written by James Gunn.

“I feel like Stan’s getting a little old to be ‘young Luke’,” replied Zark_Muckerberger with FearsomeTaco adding, “I think he’s the perfect age to be ‘middle-aged Luke’, though.”
The baby-faced Mark Hamill was 24 years old when he played Luke Skywalker in 1977’s Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope.
“I've been wanting Sebastian Stan to play Luke since Captain America: Winter Soldier (2014) came out,” said TheFluffyEngineer. “Yep, it should have been done years ago,” responded themanfromvulcan.
I don't doubt that if cast in the role of Luke Skywalker, Sebastian Stan would knock it out of the park but I feel that such an iconic live-action role should be left to the one and only, Mark Hamill.
