Cyberpunk 2077 sequel tease promises a world unlike any we've seen before

This is music to my ears

Cyberpunk 2077 is quite easily one of the most impressive RPGs out there; that’s something I didn’t think I’d be saying following the game’s release.

The depth of Cyberpunk 2077’s world is unmatched.

At every corner in Night City, there is something to be discovered, whether it’s an NPC who can send you on a riveting side quest or a simple object that imparts an important piece of lore.

I’d love to know how much of my playthrough was spent cruising around the city at night, relishing in its neon-lit wonder.

Of course, Cyberpunk 2077 is so much more than its setting. It also offers an incredible story, intuitive combat, and memorable characters.

And it’s with all of this in mind that I’m very excited about the fact that CD Projekt RED is developing a sequel.

There’s very little we know about it.

In fact, nothing has been confirmed officially beyond the title’s development moniker, Project Orion … until now.

CD Projekt RED’s next game is the long-awaited The Witcher 4.

If you found Night City to be bustling with life, then wait until you hear what the game’s sequel has in store.

Project Orion is due to feature “the most realistic and reactive crowd system in any game to date”. Oh my.

This is an official tidbit, too. Project Orion’s associate game director Paweł Sasko recently shared several job listings to Twitter, as reported by VG247.

If you look at the job description for the lead encounter designer, you’ll see the above reference to a new complex crowd system.

The job also entails adjusting “predefined quests and locations, by utilising NPC setup, interactive objects, loot and environment, to create a challenging playthrough, with multiple solutions”.

Quests that can be approached the way an individual player sees fit? Get this game in my hands immediately.

Of course, the downside to all of this is that Project Orion remains many, many years away from release.

It’s for the best though. Fair to say, none of us would want to see it rushed out, repeating mistakes of the past.

Thankfully, The Witcher 4 should land to keep us occupied in the meantime, although even that probably isn’t arriving all that soon.
