It is no secret that Cyberpunk 2077 has a less than smooth launch back in 2020 but after having one of the best comebacks in gaming history, its developers are determined not to make the same mistake again.

With Cyberpunk 2 on the cards for CD Projekt Red amongst other projects such as The Witcher 4, its developers have their work cut out to make sure that the highly-anticipated sequel has a smoother launch than its predecessor.

Launched in 2020 with game-breaking bugs and multiple glitches, Cyberpunk 2077 was soon taken down from online stores due to its unplayable state.

Since then thanks to multiple patches and more recently a 2.0 update and arrival of its Phantom Liberty DLC, Cyberpunk 2077 has redeemed itself and then some and is now regarded as one of the greatest RPGs of all time thanks to its unique setting and story.

However, CD Projekt Red is determined not to make the same mistake again and this was made clear courtesy of an interview between Dexerto and Pawel Sasko, the Associate Game Director for the upcoming Cyberpunk sequel Project Orion.

“We had to change our production pipeline completely. Nowadays, we work in content teams, feature teams, and cross-functional teams. It’s completely different than before, so this is a big thing moving forward,” Sasko explained.

He claims that the company has learned “a lot of lessons” since the release of Cyberpunk 2077 and now has a new approach to development.

“Another thing is that we have learned a lot of lessons from Cyberpunk 2077, both during its development and release,” he continued. “To make sure we are not repeating any mistakes is something that is very much in our minds, and we really, really want to make it right.

I know many people are waiting for a new Witcher game and a new Cyberpunk title. There’s huge anticipation there. So we are very much aware of how important it is moving forward.”

Cyberpunk 2, or Project Orion, is yet to receive a release date and is still in the early stages of development. However, fans are already feeling more optimistic about the future of the series.
