Cyberpunk 2077 devs unveil new RPG set in Night City

We’ll never get ‘board’ of Night City

Even though it had a very troubling launch in 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 has gone on to eventually become one of the best and most beloved sci-fi RPGs in recent years and devoted fans can never get enough of Night City.

Whether it's the video game from CD Projekt RED and its critically acclaimed Phantom Liberty expansion, the Edgerunners anime series on Netflix or a whole host of novels, there’s plenty of Cyberpunk 2077 joy to go around.

Check out the Cyberpunk 2077: The Board Game trailer below!

Despite the obvious comparisons to Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner of 1982, CDPR’s Cyberpunk 2077 is also inspired by a tabletop series from a man named Mike Pondsmith, so it makes sense that this popular sci-fi RPG would morph its fair share of other tabletop games inspired by the video game.

For starters, we’ve already had Cyberpunk 2077: Gangs of Night City from CMON as well as a tabletop RPG inspired by the Netflix series called Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Mission Kit from R. Talsorian Games.

If that wasn't enough tabletop goodness for you, then you may be pleased to know that another game is on the way from Go On Board, in collaboration with CD Projekt with Cyberpunk 2077: The Board Game with its crowdfunding campaign launching on Gamefound on 3 September 2024.

“Visit Night City in this fast-paced cooperative, story-driven tactical action game. Take on the role of V, Panam, Jackie or Judy,” reads the description of Cyberpunk 2077: The Board Game. “Hit the major leagues, become a legendary edgerunner, and cross the boundary between oblivion and immortality.”

Cyberpunk 2077: The Board Game is playable for one to four players and is said to take roughly 60 to 90 minutes to finish a campaign. That being said, if you’re anything like me, it will take at least 90 minutes to get to grips with the instructions on how to play the game.

As with most crowdfunding campaigns of this nature, there will be loads of unlockable stretch goals to acquire for free if you back the project and tons of additional purchases to make if you desire. What’s more, if you follow and back the campaign, you will be gifted with a bonus V mini figure.

There is no solid set release date for Cyberpunk 2077: The Board Game, but even when one is announced, it’s always wise to expect delays.
