Cyberpunk 2077 fans have welcomed a surprise new release that’s smashed its crowdfunding goal on Kickstarter.
Long before developers CD Projekt RED even announced the sci-fi RPG Cyberpunk 2077, the cogs for the seedy criminal underworld were already in motion, with it being inspired by a tabletop RPG created by Mike Pondsmith, which in turn is inspired by Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner.
However, since the release of Cyberpunk 2077 (and despite its well-publicised launch woes), the video game propelled the franchise to new heights of popularity, which not only spawned the Phantom Liberty expansion but also countless merchandise, an anime on Netflix, novels and much more.
We’ve also had some new Cyberpunk 2077 tabletop board games in recent years funded on Kickstarter, with some fantastic-looking miniatures to paint, but the latest crowdfunding campaign is one for fans of strategic, story-driven card games.

“Night City is a place of chrome and dreams,” reads the description of Cyberpunk Legends: Into the Night from Night Crew Games.
“If you're here, you probably already know about the high-tech low life that makes up Night City, from its shining corporate towers to the bleak slums of the Combat Zone.
“But in ‘Cyberpunk Legends’, you're going to live the history of Night City. Your campaigns will take you from the twenty-teens right up to the modern age. You'll get to interact with some of your favourite characters as they were up-and-coming, living on the edge and forge your own path towards becoming a legend.”

The crowdfunding campaign for Cyberpunk Legends: Into the Night launched on 23 September 2025 and in no time, smashed its goal of £55,823 in less than 20 minutes. At the time of writing, the strategic card game has raised over £560k with 23 days until the campaign ends.

That being said, sometimes it’s worth taking target goals with a pinch of salt, because they can often be low-balled so that the crowdfunded percentage during the campaign looks more impressive. Nonetheless, over £560 raised in that space of time is impressive either way.
One of the best things about Kickstarter campaigns is that each time a campaign achieves a new milestone, new add-ons are unlocked, most of which come at no extra expense for the backer.
However, there is an element of risk from crowdfunding campaigns, because in extreme circumstances and for a multitude of reasons, some campaigns might not be fulfilled despite raising huge amounts of money.
According to Cyberpunk Legends: Into the Night’s FAQ, shipments to backers are currently intended to be fulfilled sometime in 2026. Oh, and if you’re familiar with crowdfunding campaigns, delays are often likely.
