Cyberpunk 2077 fans in love with sequel trailer: 'we are so back'

Are you emotionally prepared though?

I’d somewhat accepted that this might never happen but I’m so glad that I was wrong.

Finally, it’s been confirmed that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is set to return for a second season.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is often left out of the conversation when we talk about the best video game adaptations out there, but it has every right to be at the forefront.

The first season comprised 10 episodes and dropped way back in 2022.

It was positively fantastic, introducing us to new protagonist David Martinez.

If you’re yet to dive in, I recommend you go about changing that which you can do so via Netflix.

“Cyberpunk: Edgerunners tells a standalone, 10-episode story about a street kid trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future,” the synopsis reads.

“Having everything to lose, he chooses to stay alive by becoming an edgerunner—a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.”

You can see why standalone led me to believe that Edgerunners might never return, but CD Projekt RED recently dropped an announcement trailer for Edgerunners 2.

This is yet another standalone tale, so it will centre around a new character.

As for who that’ll be, we don’t yet know.

“Night City lives on,” CDPR teased.

“Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 presents a new standalone 10-episode story from the world of Cyberpunk 2077— a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge. In a city that thrives in the spotlight of violence, one question remains: when the world is blinded by spectacle, what extremes do you have to go to make your story matter?”

Already, I’m hooked.

The second outing will once again air on Netflix, although it’s very much still in production so a release window hasn’t yet been set.

Needless to say, fans are already filled with excitement.

“My body is ready, but my soul isn’t,” read one comment on the trailer on YouTube.

“Here we go again, chooms,” added another.

“Bruh, I still haven’t got over the first season,” said one fan, with another writing, “We are so back.”

If you are planning to watch season one, bring some tissues.
