Cyberpunk 2077 major graphics update could completely change the game for CD Projekt Red’s sci-fi RPG.

Despite Cyberpunk 2077 launching in a bad state, so much so that Sony pulled it from the PS Store, CDPR’s sci-fi RPG made a triumphant return like a Phoenix rising from the ashes.

While not completely perfect, we think it’s fair to say that Cyberpunk 2077 is certainly close to becoming the game we hoped it would be, albeit a few years later. The quality of Cyberpunk 2077 is perhaps no better showcased than with the recent ‘Overdrive’ update on PC which is said to absolutely floor fans with its sublime implementation of ray tracing software.

However, as reported by videocardz.com, the visual splendour of Cyberpunk 2077 is about to get even better. PC tech analyst CapFrameX claimed on Twitter that ray tracing on PC is about to get a snazzy augmentation worthy of the top brass of Night City.

“[Rumor] CD PROJECT will support neural radiance caching for path tracing with the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 DLC,” tweeted CapFrameX. “This technology can improve path tracing performance significantly.”

According to videocardz.com, neural radiance technology replaces model pretraining with generalisation via adaptation. Which in a nutshell, means that ray tracing reflections are about to bounce like never before. The software can also enhance global illumination by enabling dynamic content prediction.

Obviously, at this time, this report is mere speculation, so we should take it with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise. That being said, given CDPR and Nvidia’s desire to continue enhancing the visuals and performance of Cyberpunk 2077 on PC, hopefully an official reveal will in fact take place alongside the launch of the upcoming expansion, Phantom Liberty.

In related news, Phantom Liberty will be playable at Summer Game Fest next month, which hopefully means that we’ll be treated to new gameplay as well as a release date. Phantom Liberty is being released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
