Could something new soon be on the way for Cyberpunk 2077 players?
On 12 October, Cyberpunk 2077 protagonist V will celebrate their birthday - and fans are pondering what that might mean exactly.
CD Projekt RED recently took to the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter/X account with a rather cryptic message.
“Car polished? Guns loaded? Great. Now grab some candles – V’s birthday is on October 12th,” it began.

“Make sure to rsVp in the comments if you're planning to join the celebrations!”
Attached to the tweet was a calendar showing both the female and male versions of V occupying the 12 October box.
I’m going to be honest with you; this could mean absolutely nothing.
CD Projekt RED may just be pointing out a fun fact, or they might mark the occasion of V’s birthday with some free wallpapers or something low-key like that.

You know the drill though.
This cryptic tweet has already fuelled fan hype with some wondering if developers are teasing that something larger is on the way … a new update, perhaps?
“Another expansion please,” replied ultramegapint.
“Birthday parties would have been nice DLC, just saying,” added sleepydee23.

User t4le_b4rd posed an interesting theory: “I’m sure you’re cooking something for early December (the game’s 5th anniversary), a final big patch?”
I personally wouldn’t be surprised if CD Projekt RED had more planned for this game.
Every time devs claim they’re done, another patch arrives, and I do think when they finally end this chapter, they’ll want to do so with a bang.
And if that’s the case, the game’s anniversary does seem more compelling of an occasion to drop something rather than V’s birthday.

I don’t think we should expect too much on V’s birthday beyond perhaps, like I said, a free offering in the way of a wallpaper or avatar.
Or maybe we won’t receive anything at all.
What I will remind you of is the fact that CD Projekt RED has made it clear that no additional expansions are planned for Cyberpunk 2077.
Developers have already begun work on the game’s sequel, codenamed Project Orion, although it’s the very early days of development.

Project Orion is not set to land until after The Witcher IV and while that title has been publicly revealed, it remains without a release window - let alone a date.
As such, I’d say Project Orion is a good five years away. Maybe more.
But it’s also for this reason that I expect we’ll see more updates land for the base game, Cyberpunk 2077, in the near future.
So get 12 October marked on your calendar, with the game’s anniversary to be celebrated on 10 December beyond that.
