There is a Cyberpunk prequel on the way, but it’s a twist on what we’ve seen previously from CD Projekt Red.

Cyberpunk Red: Combat Zone is a tabletop board game featuring miniature figures as playable characters, based on the Table Top RPG of the same name. While Cyberpunk Red plays a bit like Dungeons and Dragons, this new board game will take the action to the table for a more visual adventure.

Cyberpunk 2077 has spawned several successful spin-offs

“Become the leader of a gang torn from the pages of the Cyberpunk Red RPG and fight fever-pitched battles or sweeping campaigns. Equip your gang, hire your mercs, and build your street cred to dominate the hellish rubble of the Combat Zone and emerge as the new master of the streets.”

The game comes with everything you need to get started. Inside the game box you’ll find a double-sided board, some board scenery, objective cards, dice, measuring devices, plus lots of highly detailed miniatures that can be painted and personalised. The game was originally released via Kickstarter and successfully funded, including many stretch goals. The game will be fully supported after launch with more options for in-game gangs, as well as new scenery pieces to flesh out your game.

Cyberpunk 2077 fans will find a rich backstory set in Night City that adapts to the personality you inject via playing in particular ways. You’ll also find several gangs in the box that act as enemies with each one radically changing the feel of the game as well as the difficulty. Of course, with a tabletop game like this you’re only limited by your imagination, if you want to you can create your own scenery to play around or even invent your own gangs, as long as it all fits the fast-paced battle rules. This is an absolute must for fans of Cyberpunk 2077 or its anime spin-off, Edgerunners.
