Honestly, I'm surprised Cyberpunk 2077 fans are surprised

CD Projekt RED has just announced that a much-requested Cyberpunk 2077 feature isn’t in the works, and fans are mostly just confused.

As revealed by the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account, the game won’t be getting any kind of PlayStation 5 Pro-related upgrade in the near future.

In response to one commenter asking if there were plans for one in the future, they simply replied “We currently have no plans for PS5 Pro patch.”

Over on the r/Games subreddit in a thread detailing the announcement, players discussed the potential reasons behind the lack of a patch.

“Starting to wonder what the point of the PS5 Pro is when most of the stories have been games that either won't be patched or don't work properly on the new hardware” replied user iWriteYourMusic.

“This isn't surprising considering they didn't even bother to add NG+ to Cyberpunk and they still haven't fixed the annoying texture glitches on the PS5 version of TW3,” commented user ZaDu25, “CDPR got their bag, they're on to the next one.”

To be honest, I’m not surprised at the news. CD Projekt RED are beyond busy right now.

They're assisting in the development of Fool's Theory's upcoming The Witcher Remake. They're working on Project Hadar, their first original IP. Project Polars, the codename for The Witcher 4, is also in development. Plus, both Project Sirius (another The Witcher title) and Project Orion (a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel) are also assumedly getting some attention.

Besides, they actually are hard at work on some Cyberpunk 2077 updates. The developer announced last month that the title will be getting Mac port in the near future.

Regardless, this all might be a blessing in disguise. A lot of the most recent PlayStation 5 Pro “upgrades” have some severe issues, especially the ones from third-party developers.

Although they have “no plans” for one at this current point in time, I wouldn’t be surprised if CD Projekt RED do eventually release an update for the system. Just don’t expect one any time this year.
