One eagle-eyed Crash Bandicoot fan may have just noticed our first hint at the return of our favourite furry friend and it is safe to say that we are feeling the hype.
It is hard to believe that it has been two-years since the latest Crash Bandicoot entry was released with Crash Team Rumble arriving back in June 2023.
Since then, in 2024, it was revealed by video game historian Liam Robertson that Activision had cancelled a direct sequel to Crash Bandicoot 4 after discovering alleged artworks and story concepts.
So where does that leave us? Well, no new Crash Bandicoot entry has been confirmed to be in development but a recent discovery may just hint that the platform/racing games may be far from over.
Advert
Originally developed by Naughty Dog back in 1996, the Crash Bandicoot franchise has come on in leaps and bounds with various developers taking the helm as well as the experimentation of different genres ranging from platformers to all-out racing games.
However, according to this recent discovery, it seems as though another racing game is on the cards.

Spotted by Jaccblacc203 over on r/crashbandicoot, a new header image on the official Beenox Twitter account showcases a modern looking Crash Bandicoot in a car of some sort.
“Beenox updated their Twitter banner and it features Crash riding a kart... Except it's Crash 4 design... Are we finally back??” They asked alongside the screenshot in question.
Could this be another kart racing game or maybe that cancelled Crash Bandicoot 4 sequel?
For those unaware, Beenox is a video game developer and subsidiary of Activision who has previously worked on other Crash Bandicoot entries such as 2019’s Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled and 2020’s Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time.
So it would make perfect sense that this studio would be the developer behind the next Crash entry.
Of course, this has not been confirmed by Beenox or Activision itself but the evidence is quite damning.
“This is the most concrete "evidence" so far that something's in the works,” user Kaiser_Allen commented.
GnastiestGnorc agreed, adding, “I’m taking ALL the copium with this one.
Bubsy got revived, Rayman’s making a comeback, and Crash got that Netflix show news. There’s no way we aren’t getting something new for Crash.
I was pessimistic before, but after Rayman’s resurgence, I think it’s safe to say we’ll get some game news in the near future.”
The banner has since been taken down but whether because it was a mistake or it was just posted too early remains to be seen.
Whatever the truth, let us hope that Crash Bandicoot finally returns over the next few years.
