Illumination’s untitled Super Mario film inches ever closer and if I had to sum up this project in one word, it would be unhinged. Chris Pratt will be bringing Mario to life, with Jack Black to appear as Bowser and Charlie Day as Luigi.

The internet being the internet, responded to the casting news with an onslaught of memes - many of which were truly hilarious. For months now, we’ve been wondering how Pratt will bring Mario’s iconic voice to life, and the actor is finally lifting the lid on the whole affair.

For the first time ever, you can now play Mario Kart in real life. Check out Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge at Universal Studios Hollywood below.

As I’m sure you’re aware, Mario is Italian and Chris Pratt is not, which is why many are so curious to hear the actor’s take on the character. During an interview with Variety, Pratt revealed that his voice is “unlike anything you’ve heard in the Mario world before.”

Pratt explained, “I worked really closely with the directors, trying out a few things and landed on something that I’m really proud of and can’t wait for people to see and hear. It’s an animated voiceover narrative. It’s not a live-action movie. I’m not gonna be wearing a plumber suit running all over. I’m providing a voice for an animated character, and it is updated and unlike anything you’ve heard in the Mario world before.”

Previously, the supposed plot of the film leaked online and it sounds just as cursed as you’d expect. The film is thought to be a musical and will include a plumbing song sung by Mario and Luigi which just feels like a meme in the making. It’s rumoured that Mario and Luigi will actually have Brooklyn accents, but of course Pratt hasn’t confirmed this. I’ve got to admit, I’m curious to see this film just for the chaos.
