It’s exactly one week to go until The Super Mario Bros. Movie hits cinemas. Who’s excited?

The film has an all-star cast - Chris Pratt is voicing the red-capped protagonist, and Charlie Day is taking on the role of his timid younger brother, Luigi. Anya Taylor-Joy is Princess Peach, and Jack Black is Bowser - the internet has been completely won over by his performance based on the trailers alone. He’s clearly very into the role, too - he recently appeared on a chat show dressed as the guy, although he had to be quickly censored due to a wardrobe malfunction.

Take a look at the trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie below.

Now though, Luigi’s voice actor has confirmed that he’d be totally down to reprise his role in a Luigi’s Mansion movie. For those unfamiliar, the Luigi’s Mansion series sees Mario’s brother basically become a Ghostbuster, using a vacuum to suck up ghosts as he makes his way though haunted locations. Given his easily-spooked disposition, the games are very funny, and it’s easy to see how the concept could be adapted into a film.

In an interview with ComicBook, Day was directly asked if he wants to make the film, and he said: “Yes I do. Big time. You’re not the first [to ask] but let's get that out in the zeitgeist. Let's make this happen, okay? I am in.”

This isn’t the first time that Day has expressed his enthusiasm to create the film, either. Last year, he said: “Yeah, my son was just playing Luigi's Mansion the other day on his Switch. Look, I'm thrilled to get the opportunity, I grew up playing Super Mario Bros. as did everyone I know so, we'll see! It's like anything else in life, I'll go if I'm invited!”

We’ll just have to watch this space, but out of all the different Mario game series, Luigi’s Mansion is probably the very best choice to get an adaptation.
