Call Of Duty Players Are Now Completely Invisible To Hackers

It's the latest feature that Ricochet has implemented in the hopes of preventing cheating.

Call Of Duty has received a fair bit of negative press of late. Following Activision Blizzard’s first quarter financial report, we discovered the company is down over 60 million active users per month.

Alongside the rampant allegations of sexual assault, fumbled work on both the free-to-play Call Of Duty: Warzone and Call Of Duty: Vanguard has been blamed for the stop in figures. While Activision has tried to placate players by announcing a “groundbreaking” sequel to Warzone, and an all-new Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare game, there has still been a decline in active players. And with even those playing at a professional level being caught cheating, fans are worried not enough is being done to prevent the game from getting worse.

If you want to see at least one giant hacker get exposed in Warzone then check out our video below.

When releasing Warzone, Activision introduced the Ricochet anti-cheat system which aimed to find those who were not playing games legitimately. The software bans accounts which have been found to be cheating “daily and in waves”. To date over 150,000 accounts have been removed by the system.

The software also implements other features to show that cheaters never prosper. In February, it added a technique which allows players to one-shot those who are cheating. And on Tuesday 26 April, in a blog post, it was announced that an update to the system, Cloaking, would hide other players from cheaters. As per the blog:

“With Cloaking, players that are detected to be cheating can find themselves unable to see opposing players in the game world. Characters, bullets, even sound from legitimate players will be undetectable to cheaters. Legitimate players, however, can see cheaters impacted by cloaking - generally, they’ll be the players you see spinning in circles hollering, 'Who is shooting me?!' - and can dole out in-game punishment.”

The system has undergone scrutiny as hackers appear to be circumventing these new systems as quickly as Ricochet can implement them. But a thumbs up for trying, I guess.
