Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's campaign hailed as the best in the series

The Call of Duty series has been around for 20 years with its first game releasing all the way back on PC in 2003.

I doubt very much that when the first Call of Duty arrived, anyone could have predicted the Goliath that it would become today as one of the video game industry's most popular and lucrative properties. Granted, it's not always been plain sailing for the series and we have had a couple of stinkers, but for the most part, the series has offered fun and high-octane single-player campaigns as well as a robust multiplayer offering.

We could argue until the cows come home (whatever that means) about which Call of Duty has the best campaign. However, I think one game that would be on the lips of many fans would be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009).

The campaign for Modern Warfare 2 was cinematic from start to finish with intense action, over-the-top setpiece sequences, sombre moments and betrayal. It wasn't short of some very controversial moments either. Its multiplayer maps and modes are also considered to be amongst the best that the series has to offer. In a nutshell, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 pretty much has it all. In fact, players still cannot get enough of this classic to this very day.

Fans on Reddit have been sharing their love for the classic Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. “I just started the original MW2 campaign after a long time, one of the best CoD campaigns in my opinion,” said Redditor Disastrous_Fun6227, kicking off the discussion on the thread.

“My favourite CoD, such an amazing game,” replied hiooer, and I agree. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is my favourite game in the entire series too. “Great game. I still use Soap's quote 'Took a scenic route eh?' on a daily basis. Also, this mission includes the vehicle chase on snowmobiles where you will have 200% accuracy on an SMG,” reminisced joven_thegreat. “The maps on this game were incredible. Some of the best,” adds flyvoyager.

Throughout the thread, there was of course love for other Call of Duty games, in particular the Black Ops series. “Black Ops and Black Ops II hold a special place in my heart, I'd give anything to go back and play them for the first time again,” exclaimed Spooky_boi_Kyle_8. “Black Ops slightly edges it out for me but MW1 and MW2 were both great. Loved sneaking around the MiG-29s in the blizzard. I loved the oil rig missions too,” said Dopest_Bogey.

In related news, an insider claims that a Zombies beta is coming soon to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III (2023), and fans have been debating the return of jetpacks in the series.
