Blockbuster Video is teasing a long-awaited comeback leaving many wondering, what year is it and like seriously, could this actually happen?
For those of you that may be too young to remember, Blockbuster Video was a retail rental service for all the latest movie releases, old-school classics as well as video games. It was a wonderful age when you’d go to your nearest store, select a movie (as long as it was in stock), grab some snacks and enjoy a family night in.
That being said, as wonderful as those Blockbuster years were, some could argue that it put most independent video rental businesses out of commission.

Unfortunately, in the age of modern-day internet streaming services with platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, Blockbuster itself ceased operations in 2014 and became a long-forgotten relic of the past.
However, there are a few remaining Blockbuster Video stores still fighting the good fight in North America. Other than those few stores, there are no other stores to be found elsewhere. Yet, as reported by Polygon (via 10tv.com), not being quite dead and buried, a post on the Blockbuster website has seemingly teased a comeback.
A cryptic message on the website read: “We are working on rewinding your movie.” What’s more, apparently this message has been lingering on the website since November 2022. Though you can’t blame anyone for not noticing, after all, it’s not like most people would go to the Blockbuster website to check out the new releases.
It remains to be seen whether Blockbuster Video will ever make a proper comeback. Surely, the age of physical rentals is long passed us by? The one glimmer of hope is that online streaming services are as popular now as they’ve ever been. As they say, never say never.

This is not the first time that Blockbuster Video has risen from the dead like WWE’s The Undertaker. Back in April 2022, it roasted Netflix without even trying.
