Widely regarded as one of the best video games in the superhero genre, Batman: Arkham Knight is free to download for a limited time courtesy of PlayStation and Xbox.

First released back in 2015 as the successor to 2013’s Batman: Arkham Origins and a direct sequel to 2011’s Batman: Arkham City, Batman: Arkham Knight marked the fourth instalment in Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham series.

Check out the Batman: Arkham Knight launch trailer below!

Set nine months after the events of Arkham City, players will reprise their role as Batman as he confronts arch-nemesis Scarecrow, who has launched an attack on Gotham City.

Scarecrow, who has gained the help of the mysterious Arkham Knight, plans to gather up all of Gotham’s villains in order to take down the caped crusader once and for all.

As the final instalment in the series, Batman: Arkham Knight was met with favourable reviews with critics calling it the perfect end to the franchise.

However, if you have yet to dive into it, it is now free to download for some PlayStation and Xbox users.

For PlayStation users, those with a PlayStation Plus Extra membership will be able to grab Batman: Arkham Knight at no extra cost. Otherwise the game would set you back £15.99.

If you are an Xbox user, you can also grab Arkham Knight at no extra cost if you are a Xbox Game Pass member.

This means that you will be able to launch the game on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and the Xbox Series X/S consoles.

Batman: Arkham Knight sits at around a 4.6 out of 5 rating on both console stores but if you are unsure, the following reviews may convince you.

“This game is amazing. Part of one of the best video game series that exists,” one user shared.

“The previous Arkham games were so good but this one has to be the best.

The graphics are fantastic, the combat and predator systems are perfect and the story is incredible, and the side missions and DLCs! Highly recommend this game.”

Another said: “Loved this game when I played it, a fitting end to a legendary game series.

At the time this game wasn't as appreciated as it is now.

Although it wasn't as special as the first two Arkham games, it's better than Arkham Origins and was certainly a step up in terms of graphics and I'd say even gameplay.

The new mechanics and bike added to the sense of scale, it stayed true to the Arkham formula whilst still adding something fresh to the story and gameplay.”
