This Banjo Kazooie Unreal Engine 5 remake is all we've ever wanted

Come on Microsoft where's an official remake?

Unreal Engine demos and remake projects are incredibly popular of late. Usually it’s a fan who has taken the time to visually upgrade a classic game, giving it a facelift and making us yearn for something official to come down the pipeline.

We’ve seen many of these demos and the latest to catch our eye is an Unreal Engine 5 remake of Banjo-Kazooie. Perhaps not a game you’d instantly think of for this kind of treatment, but there’s no denying that the footage is gorgeous and it brings a new look to a long-time favourite of many.

Please give us a new Banko-Kazooie, we've been very good and deserve it

Project Dream has brought the bear and the bird into modern day - more than Microsoft have attempted… ahem - and it looks lush. The tech demo of Spiral Mountain features gorgeous wavy grass, sparkling light as it hits waterfalls, and everything just feels fresh and new. Even the interior of Banjo and Kazooie’s house pops with saturated colours and bright textures.

It’s about time that this treasured series gets a return. As one person says in the comments, “We’ll get billions of Assassins Creed games or Call of Duty titles, but heaven forbid we get this masterpiece remastered to the public. This game would be EPIC.” Damn right it would be. The community as a whole see this as something that needs to happen with comments like, “Ugh if only this could be real! I'd buy it in a heartbeat.”

With so many of the older N64 franchises still living on at Nintendo, this would be a perfect time for Microsoft to drop a new Banjo-Kazooie, or even a remake, and capture a new audience while bringing something great to longtime fans. Let’s hope there’s something bubbling away behind the scenes because this tech demo is giving us all the feels and we want more.
