Baldur's Gate 3 developer confirms 'ambitious' new RPG

Full steam ahead from Larian Studios

By this point, we all know that Larian Studios is finished with Baldur’s Gate 3, and in fact, the franchise as a whole. They’ve moved on from their amazing RPG to work on, well, an amazing RPG.

In a Twitter post, Larian Studios celebrated expanding into Poland and opening a brand new studio called Larian Studios Warsaw.

Baldur's Gate 3 was a perfect RPG and hopefully Larian Studios can follow it up in style.

This expansion will allow them to work on the two new projects they’ve mentioned. Projects which we know absolutely nothing about.

This is the seventh Larian Studio and it’s opened in a country renowned for its RPGs, chiefly The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077, which come from CD Projekt Red, also based in Warsaw.

It’s worth noting that CD Projekt Red welcomed Larian to Poland with a lovely reply to the original Twitter post saying, “Welcome to Warsaw, neighbours! Can't wait to see what you're cooking!”

But, back to those ‘two’ games on the way. While we know nothing, that doesn’t mean we can’t speculate.

Larian has helmed their own brilliant RPG in the Divinity series and we could see a return to that world as one of these RPGs. Given that both Divinity: Original Sin titles were hugely popular, it wouldn’t be a surprise if we saw a return.

The other one? Well, that could be anything. At this point, it feels like whatever the developers touch will turn to gold, which could be seen as a lot of pressure, but it’s never held them back before.

But how do you follow up a game that many call the best RPG of all time, or at least the best in the past decade? Hopefully, we don’t have long to wait before we see something, anything that will give us a view of what they are indeed cooking.
