Ubisoft was absolutely picked apart by fans recently for announcing a new subscription service.

The Assassin’s Creed publisher has been making a lot of headlines recently, like its absurd early-access price for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, as well as a new subscription service centred around its flagship franchise.

Check out the trailer for Assassin’s Creed Shadows below.

Ubisoft already has a subscription service, Ubisoft+, which grants access to a wide variety of titles and is included as part of your Xbox Game Pass subscription if you have that.

That isn’t seemingly enough though, as the publisher recently announced another subscription service, this time for its critically-acclaimed first-person shooter Rainbow Six Siege.

Rainbow Six Siege has seen a surge of new and returning players recently, mostly due to the influence of streamers and influencers who still play the game regularly online, prompting several viral clips and YouTube videos as a result.

Seemingly capitalising on that popularity, Ubisoft recently announced R6 Membership, which launches in June and will cost you around $10 every month.

It promises Premium Battle-Pass membership, exclusive skins and other goodies, though when it was announced on-stage at a recent event, the crowd expressed their outrage with loud boos.

Fans who weren’t in attendance shared their own reaction online, like in a Reddit thread by Cookie_Masterson89.

One fan said, “I f***ing hate this trend how every game not only needs a battle pass but also a subscription service to milk the player base even more.”

Another added, “Everything needs to chill. Everything needs to stop getting exponentially f***ing worse all the time.”

Finally one player said “They keep this s**t up and i'm gonna start going outside again.”

So as you can tell, fans aren’t happy.
