Assassin's Creed is kicking off its 15th anniversary celebrations with a new-gen update and free access to one of the best games in the series.
Assassin's Creed Origins, the excellent Ancient Egypt adventure that tells the story of how the order of assassins came to be, will be free to download on all consoles between June 16 and June 20.
The game will also be discounted by a whopping 85% from June 16 to July 10, just in case your brief time in Egypt leaves you wanting more. Between this and Origins' previously announced 60fps update having landed on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, earlier this month, it's the perfect time to jump back into one of the most interesting Assassin's Creed adventures.
That's not all Ubisoft has planned for Assassin's Creed fans over the next few months, however. Viking romp Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is set to receive a second year of free post-launch support, including new content updates, returning festivals, and plenty more.

A blog post teases: "Fans can look forward to Assassin’s Creed Origins-inspired tattoos and naval packs in the game, as well as new tombs that will conclude the mystery behind the Tombs of the Fallen, coming this fall. The Forgotten Saga is also set to continue its adventure into Norse mythology, giving players the chance to delve into Niflheim in a rogue-lite inspired free game mode that continues Odin's journey. Eivor’s final chapter is set to release at the end of the year."
Assassin's Creed Origins' free trial will be available to download on all platforms from tomorrow. Be sure to check it out if the game passed you by the first time, as it really is one of the better games in the series. Honestly, the entire game is worth picking up solely for the experience of climbing the Great Pyramids and sliding back down like Sonic The Hedgehog.
