Assassin's Creed Nexus trailer confirms return of Ezio, Connor, and Kassandra

Return of the kings (and queen)

Ubisoft has unveiled the first official trailer for Assassin's Creed Nexus, and it features some very familiar faces.

If you've been keeping an eye on all things Assassin's Creed flavoured in the last week or so you'll know that eagle-eyed fans spotted references to three classic Assassin's in a recent teaser for Netflix. Sure enough, we now have confirmation that the upcoming game will feature Kassandra (Assassin's Creed Odyssey), Connor (Assassin's Creed III), and Ezio (all the best ones). The three beloved Assassin's will star in a brand-new single-player story set across three time periods.

Take a look at the trailer below!

Ubisoft revealed that Assassin's Creed Nexus will be focused around a modern-day story in which Abstergo, never one to miss a chance for mischief, has started poking around the timelines of the three Assassins.

Players will pick up with an older Ezio in 15th century Italy, Kassandra in 400 BC Greece, and Connor during the US revolution of the 18th century.

This being a virtual reality game, the adventure will take place entirely in first-person. However, this is an Assassin's Creed game through and through, complete with "open maps" to explore and all the parkour and stealth you'd expect. Ubisoft promises that the game's various sandbox levels can be completed in any way you see fit, which basically means that when you inevitable mess up a cool stealth kill and blow your cover you can fight your way out.

Ubisoft has also assured fans that they've been working with a "dedicated comfort team" to ensure that even those sensitive to VR can have fun with Assassin's Creed Nexus. Expect plenty of built-in options to customise the experience to your liking.

Assassin's Creed Nexus will be launching for the Meta Quest VR headset later on this year. I think I may have just found a VR game to really care about.
