Hot off the back of the success of the first major 'Resync' in the Assassin's Creed universe, Ubisoft could be set to break precedent with its Black Flag treatment by releasing an expanded version with scenes that were never featured in the original title.
The future of the Assassin's Creed franchise looks evenly poised to attack two prongs.
First, new upcoming releases will continue from Valhalla and Shadows by exploring new regions and themes, as a witchcraftian world is set to lure players in for Hexe.
But on the other side, more remastered - or resynced - titles are on the way too, as Ubisoft continues to tease the next OG game that is getting a second shot in the limelight.

But before we get another instalment of either branch, it looks like Ubisoft hasn't quite finished with its current crop of games.
That's especially true when it comes to Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, which may have laid out even bigger plans for the legendary pirate Edward Kenway.
Recently recovered game files have revealed a scrapped post-credits scene that could have set the stage for a substantial new chapter in Edward's life, and, if you're hoping for more pirate adventures, the implications are certainly intriguing.
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced cut scene reveals major story details
As aired by YouTuber Sliderv2, a deleted post-credits sequence lasting just over a minute makes for interesting viewing.
The unfinished scene reportedly takes place in a London tavern around five years after the events of Black Flag, following Edward's return to Britain with his daughter.
Rather than simply offering another glimpse at the pirate-turned-Assassin, the sequence appears to connect several important pieces of the franchise's timeline.
For starters, Edward's former crewmate Adéwalé would apparently have answered his call for help, offering a little more context for what happened to the character between Freedom Cry and Rogue.
The scene also features Miko, a member of the British Assassin Brotherhood who will be familiar to anyone who's played Assassin's Creed III. He's the character Haytham Kenway assassinates during the opening moments of that game.
It's a fascinating discovery, particularly given how the original Black Flag left several years of Edward's life largely unexplored.
But that's not the only reason fans should pay attention.

Could Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced get a major expansion?
The most exciting possibility is that this deleted sequence could have laid the groundwork for an entirely new adventure starring Edward Kenway.
Imagine exploring London as Edward, trading the Caribbean's sun-soaked beaches for the musky dockyards of Britain while continuing his journey with the Assassin Brotherhood.
There's also the potential to explore his family life, including raising his son Haytham and daughter Jennifer, while expanding on the relationships that eventually shape the wider Assassin's Creed timeline.
Naturally, Ubisoft has not announced an expansion based on this cut content, and the recovered footage is reportedly unfinished, so there's no guarantee that the sequence ever progressed beyond an early concept.
It also seems to be quite a hefty foundation for a single DLC.
Still, it demonstrates how much storytelling potential exists within the years Ubisoft could explore between Edward's Caribbean adventures and the events of later games.
Whether this ever becomes a playable chapter remains to be seen, but fans would surely welcome another opportunity to step into Edward Kenway's boots.
After all, there's plenty of life left in the world's most charismatic pirate-turned-Assassin.
