Following months of speculation, it looks like Assassin's Creed Hexe may have just had its first screenshot leaked online.
Also known as "Codename Hexe", the next major Assassin's Creed game was announced at Ubisoft Forward back in 2022.
It'll be the next "flagship title" for the series following Assassin's Creed Shadows.
While we've seen little of the game so far, rumours point to Assassin's Creed Hexe being set in 16th century Europe at the height of the Holy Roman Empire, though an exact country and year hasn't been established yet.

It'll also allegedly focus on witch hunts, as well as other paranormal hysteria.
It was reported by leaker xj0nathan earlier this week that Assassin's Creed Hexe may also feature the return of Ezio Auditore da Firenze, the fan favourite protagonist of Assassin's Creed II, Brotherhood, and Revelations.
Between that, Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced, and the rumoured Assassin's Creed 1 remake, it seems like Ubisoft might be pulling out all of its "break in case of emergency" stops.
Getting back to Hexe, new rumours suggest that it'll be a more linear experience than previous games, and won't adopt the RPG-like format that were popularised by games like Assassin's Creed Origins and Odyssey.
The rumours also suggest the main protagonist will be called Anika, a descendant of the Auditore family.
Following these leaks, xj0nathan has also shared what may be an image from the upcoming game.
The image, which can be seen below, shows what appears to be Anika (or another assassin) in a tree, wearing a dark robe and brandishing a hidden blade.
In an age of misinformation and doctored AI images, it's always worth treating these kinds of leaks with some scepticism. With that said, the image appears to be an in-engine screenshot that is consistent with Ubisoft's art style and doesn't really have any of the 'tells' of AI generated imagery.
The picture also seems like an official marketing image, such as one that would appear in a press release or store page, which may suggest that the game is much further along than we thought.
On the other hand, there are some images being shared around which are blurry and inconsistent, which I would suggest approaching with more caution as they may have been generated by AI.
All-in-all though, it seems like Ubisoft may be readying up for an official announcement later this year.
With Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced being the priority for the studio right now, we'll probably see more of this in the latter half of the year rather than at Summer Game Fest. Perhaps Gamescom.
Assassin's Creed Hexe will be the follow-up to Assassin's Creed Shadows, which came out in 2025 and received one expansion later in the year.
In our review for the game, we called it "the new yardstick by which all future Assassin’s Creed games should be measured".
