After 25 seasons, Arthur is officially over. The iconic animated children's show aired its 25th season finale - and last ever episode - yesterday on PBS Kids. The end of an era, truly.
Arthur made its TV debut back in 1996, though the characters and world date back to 1976, and the original Marc Brown books. The show's cancellation was announced last year, with its original developer Kathy Waugh confirming that the final episodes had been written a few years earlier.
If Arthur has you feeling all warm and nostalgic, why not take a look at some of the classic Flash games from the 00's below?
So how did Arthur choose to go out after all this time? How did one of the longest-running kid's shows ever made handle its finale? Did we get a touching denouement that perfectly preserves Arthur, Buster, DW and the rest of the gang as the joyful children we've known them to be for a quarter of a century?

We did not. What we got instead was a flash-forward that showed the kids as adults with jobs and real responsibilities. A lovely reminder that the grim march of time comes for us all and even beloved cartoon characters will one day rot and die.
The show's final moments show us that Arthur is now a graphic novelist who's just finished his first book. Judging by his strange new look, I'd say he also uploads YouTube videos complaining about SJWs in gaming.
The rest of Arthur's friends aren't doing too badly either. Muffy is running for mayor, Francine works for a shoe company (idk), and Buster is a teacher.

Oh, and Arthur's sister DW is a traffic cop, which is... great? I'm assuming Arthur's parents told him he was the only child in the family that was allowed to chase his dreams.
