Star Wars announces new series set between episodes 6 and 7

Bridging the gap

A new Star Wars prequel series has been announced that’ll bridge the gap between Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi and Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.

It’d be an understatement to say a lot goes on in-between both films, and while we’ve seen a bit of the interim already with shows like Ahsoka and The Mandalorian we’re still missing a lot of context.

The Empire falls but the First Order rises, meaning heroes both new and old need to unite in Episode VII to face this new threat head-on.

While this is going on though the famed scoundrel Han Solo is off on a different mission, reclaiming his beloved Millenium Falcon which he eventually succeeds in thanks to a bit of help from Rey and Finn.

A new comic series titled Han Solo: Hunt For The Falcon aims to finally shed some light on how exactly the Falcon was lost and what Han got up to on his mission to find it and bring it home.

It’s being written by Rodney Barnes, and the first issue will be released later this year on 3 September.

I’m excited for this, not just because I love Han Solo but because I’ve always wondered how on Earth he lost his ship, maybe he just forgot where he’d parked?

Judging from some of the artwork as well it looks like we’ll be seeing more than just Han and Chewbacca return, as Lando can be seen on one of the covers so that’ll be a nice reunion. The two didn’t get to share the screen together in the sequels despite their history, which always felt like a bit of a missed opportunity if you ask me.

Either way it looks like Han Solo: Hunt For The Falcon will be an exciting read, and you can pick up the first issue this September.
